Our Mission
Our mission is to support lifelong learning for non-speaking autistic children and young adults, working with educators, families, and organizations. Autism Learning Foundation (The Foundation) prioritizes holistic development, focusing on schools like Advancing Life Learners (A.L.L) that cater to the needs of individuals on the autism spectrum, covering both academics and life skills.
We intend to establish a central hub (the Autism Learning Center) where therapy, education, and related businesses collaborate to aid the non-speaking autistic community. Financial assistance and scholarships will be provided through fundraisers, donations, and partnerships to achieve these goals. Our aim is to provide A.L.L. with the resources and infrastructure needed to deliver a traditional curriculum in a sensory-friendly environment tailored to non-speaking autistics.
Additionally, The Foundation will offer scholarships and financial support to educators and therapists seeking certification. Currently, educators often need specialized training in spelling techniques to assist non-speaking autistics, which usually involves traveling to places like Texas or New York. However, our Foundation plans to provide grants to cover travel, course fees, and other expenses, making certification more accessible. Once certified, these individuals can bring their skills to Advancing Life Learners (A.L.L.), helping autistic students develop better spelling abilities.
Play is Important
Engagement in play enriches students’ learning capacities. The Foundation helped A.L.L. get new playground equipment, creating a lively area for physical activity and socializing among students, teachers, and families. We’re dedicated to making A.L.L.’s recreational spaces even better by adding special equipment like swings, trampolines, climbing bars, and rock climbing walls designed for autistic children.
Movement is Essential
The Foundation provided A.L.L. with a 15-passenger van for trips to parks, the zoo, sensory learning centers, and other enriching places. These outings give students valuable experiences and encourage community interaction, helping people recognize and respect their abilities. By joining community activities, the Foundation aims to build understanding and appreciation. This transportation is vital, allowing students to join field trips, community events, and other enriching activities
Future Growth
Our next project for The Autism Learning Center (“The Center”) is to create a learning garden space for students to have a sense of peace and connection with nature: The Healing Place. This project is in the planning phase and we are currently fundraising for this install. For more information and how to help click here.
